E.I.M.CI.LA 2011

We are happy to announce EIMCILA 2011, International Contact Improvisation Teachers Meeting in Latin America, City of Buenos Aires.

E.I.M.CI.LA 2011 is addressed to Contact Improvisation teachers and experienced practitioners interested in the practice of transmission.

Much has grown the practice of Contact Improvisation in Argentina in the last 20 years. The first weekly jam was in 88 and nowadays regular jams, meetings, classes and intensive workshops take place in many locations across the country. From some thirty practitioners in the beginnings, we are now several hundreds, and many teachers.

We feel a strong desire to share experiences with our colleagues from all over the world.

Excited and wishful, there we go!

Welcome to EIMCILA 2011

What is EIMCILA?

An horizontal meeting among pairs to exchange knowledge regarding the practice and the teaching of Contact Improvisation, as well as theoretical reflection, dissemination and research.

At the basis of the exchange we believe is the availability of giving, the possibility for learning to learn, the desire to communicate and the pleasure to meet and share to nurture each other and grow as teachers, as dancers, as human beings.

What do I have to offer of my experience in Contact Improvisation?

Experience is having hours of flight. The dance, curiosity and time are our true masters. We propose a meeting with the focus on cooperation, listening, generosity and attention.

Contact Improvisation as a practice of listening and communication, will be the research field on which to build learning from the deepening of individualities expressing themselves.

SCHEDULE OF ACTIVITIES.

DAY 1. Monday.

- INTRODUCTION BODY TO BODY. FROM DANCE TO DANCE.
We will know each others through the essence of our practice: the physical dialogue. The proposal is to dance a definite time with each participant (15 min). The definition of time  and the number of dances implie self-responsibility to find and sustain the motivation, energy and focus during each new encounter.
Tuning the attention. Energizing the dance.

- OPENING CIRCLE
- ORGANIZATION OF WORK GROUPS

DAY 2, DAY 3. Tuesday. Wednesday.

- Study Labs.
- Focussed groups.
- Co-teaching classes.
- Experiments.
- "Tried and true." Sharing personal resources in terms of transmission of specific skills.
- Film. Using this resource tin order o learn to watch, understand, dance, teach.

At the end of each day there will be a general meeting to share the reports of the experiences of each group.

DAY 4. Thursday. Day out of town. (Tigre Island).

- LAB IN EXCURSION.
We'll continue the exchange in the nature nearby the city.
We'll experiment in
different environmental, spatial and gravitational conditions, such as water, lack of friction, lawn etc.

DAY 5. Friday.
Idem days 2 and 3

Day 6 and Day 7. Saturday. Sunday.

1 A 1 JOURNEYS. WEEKEND. EVERYBODY WELCOME.
Can register: beginners, practitioners of all levels and teachers who do not participate at the meeting from the start.

Teachers
who participated at E.I.M.CI.LA from the start will attend to individual requests from those who sign up for the weekend, of a specific learning experience, which may have a theoretical or practical focus, or simply an invitation to dance.

In the one to one meeting, each participant will be able to work both days in individual mini-classes of 20 minutes with the teachers they choose. This gives the opportunity to address various issues concerning their interest.

The concept of 1 A 1 JOURNEYS is to encourage the development of a personal learning path guided by interest and curiosity, personal motivations, individual questions and desires of the participants, regardless of their level of experience, from absolute beginners to teachers who want to share with one-another.

For those who are in the role of teacher, this is a challenging experience since they meet with their knowledge, certainties and uncertainties as in a mirror, and may deepen their personal quality in order to convey their experience of contact improvisation.

- CONTINUOUS FOCUS JAM
- FINAL REPORTS
- CLOSING CIRCLE
